“An interior is the natural projection of the soul”
Coco Chanel
Homeplace was founded on the basis that homes should tell a story about their inhabitants.
After a career in Marketing & Events at Dazed & Confused & AnOther Magazine, followed by almost 8 years as Head of Events at the charity War Child, founder Wendy Aldridge spotted a gap in the market for a website that showcased a carefully curated selection of vintage homewares and furniture that would sit easily alongside and complement a range of more contemporary pieces.
The aim was to provide customers with an eclectic but carefully considered selection of vintage & contemporary pieces, so they could mix styles, eras, colours and textures & create homes that have as much personality as they do.
Almost 9 years later, Homeplace has evolved to include 2 holiday lets - one moments from the beach in Ramsgate, on the Kent coast, the other in the beautiful leafy district of Bonfim in Portugal's pretty second city Porto.
In August 2022, Wendy, husband James, 3 kids and Pablo the Border Terrier relocated from Walthamstow, East London to Porto, where they currently reside.
Homeplace is currently run remotely from Porto, with orders being dispatched from a warehouse in the UK.

Holiday Lets
As mentioned, Homeplace also incorporates 2 holiday apartments - one in the UK on the Kent coast & one in the beautiful city of Porto, Portugal.
The Ramsgate apartment sleeps 6 comfortably across 3 double bedrooms, has 2 bathrooms, a very large open plan kitchen/living area, kids TV den and access to a small courtyard. It sits in one of the large Regency properties on the East Cliff and is less than a 5 minute walk from a big sandy beach.
The property is available for short term holiday lets and as a shoot location. More information can be found here.
The Porto apartment also sleeps 6 across 2 double bedrooms and a room featuring one single bed and a pull out daybed for which we provide bedlinen. It is a large and spacious apartment with a comfortable lounge that opens through original glazed doors to a dining room with seating for 6/8.
The apartment also features a bathroom, kids den and a kitchen that opens into a small glazed breakfast room. It retains many original features including parquet floors, original doors/windows etc and has been sympathetically renovated to make the most of these features.
Location wise, it is situated on a quiet street in the beautiful and historic Bonfim area of the city, apx a 5 mins walk from 2 different Metro stations. The buzzy Downtown area with a plethora of bars and restaurants to choose from is apx a 15/20 minute walk away.
