We love the tactile texture and quirky individuality vintage needleworks and tapestries bring to an interior but this piece takes it to a new level..
Based on L. S Lowry's famous painting 'Coming from the Mill' depicting workers heading home after a shift in Salford, Greater Manchester, painted in and around 1930.
L. S Lowry's work largely dealt with the industrial districts in the northwest of England from the mid-1900s. He developed a painting style of cityscapes with people, often described as "matchstick men" as can be seen in the needlework.
Quite possibly one of the quirkiest pieces we've come across in a while, the detail is wonderful and colour palette very pleasing.
It is in excellent vintage condition and comes ready to hang.
